Aquatic Facilities

Tobruk Memorial Pool offers a wide variety of features ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Our World Class Aquatic facilities include our Olympic 50m swimming pool, two 25m swimming pools, a toddler pool, and the Flow Rider - where you can ride the ONLY Waves in Cairns.

50m Swimming Pool

Heated to 27 degrees, the shaded outdoor 50m Pool has 10 lanes, making it an ideal place for lap swimming. With slow, medium and fast lanes the pool caters for all abilities.

Our 50m Pool is a FINA approved World Class standard, and attracts Olympic teams from around the world to train with us in the lead up to major events, both locally, nationally and internationally.

The pool is extremely versatile, with a movable boom that allows it to be converted into water polo, underwater hockey or two 25m pools. The pool is ideal for swimming carnivals, with a permanent grandstand seating for over 400 people

25m 6-lane Pool

The 25m Lap Pool is also heated to 27 degrees in winter, and a lovely shaded outdoor pool, used for lap swimming, aquatic exercise, swimming lessons and other aquatic programs. The lap pool has six lanes with a depth ranging from 1m – 1.35m. 

The pool also caters for those with disabilities, equipped with a full ramp for easy access. You can also book lanes for your special groups.

25m Warm Water Pool - Closed Every Saturday 8am to 1pm 

Our Program Pool heated to 32 degrees is primarily for our Learn to Swim program. Learn to Swim will take priority over other swimmers, groups and patrons. The Program Pool is a shared space by many user groups, especially those with special needs and accessibility needs.

Please NO Lap Swimming in the heated Program Pool for the safety of all users in this small, very special place. Lap Swimmers can use the other Pools, both 25m and 50m Outdoor Pools.

Our 25m warm water pool is heated up to 32 degrees and has a constant depth of 1.2m.

You can enjoy the specialist health benefits associated or simply relax in a beautiful aquatic environment. With an access ramp, stairs and mechanical hoist, we are certain this particular facility will hold great attraction to older generations in particular, looking for a bit of “me” time.

Please note that the majority of our Learn to Swim classes and Aqua Aerobics classes are scheduled in this pool therefore at certain times public access is either limited or not available. These times are listed below.

Entry to this area is restricted to persons over 16 years of age unless under the supervision of a responsible adult.

Space restricted for public use in warm water and 25m pool during these times:

Monday to Friday
8.30am – 11.00am
4.00pm – 6.30pm

Public access is unavailable in the warm water pool during these times:

Saturday
8.00am – 1.00pm

Toddler Pool

There’s something for all ages at Tobruk Memorial Pool. Our toddler’s splash pool is fun for the little ones with a beach entry and fun fountains to cool off under. Ample seating is provided for parents.

FlowRider
